Benevolent Care Remains a Priority: Grant Amount Increased in 2020

When the Capitol Lakes Foundation’s Board passed their Fiscal Year 2020 budget in September 2019 they could not have imagined what 2020 would bring. The Covid-19 pandemic has upended everything we took for granted. Our expectations on our grant disbursements did not anticipate the unforeseen and urgent needs from both our staff and residents. However, thanks to your generosity and unwavering support we have not only been able to meet these unexpected challenges but have also been able to confirm and expand our commitment to existing programs.

The Benevolent Care program at Capitol Lakes – which tries to ensure that no resident needs to leave their home due to inability to pay – is really an extension of the kindness and generosity our residents have always shown their neighbors. While the uncertainty of the pandemic could have easily derailed the Foundation’s annual grant to support this program, your overwhelming support for this community gave us the confidence to increase our commitment with a grant of $60,000 this year. That is the largest grant yet toward the total cost of this program and it was made during a year with a tremendous amount of competing priorities.

Thank you for making this grant possible and for the many ways you support the Capitol Lakes community. Together, we do enhance the living experience.
