Dr. Barbara Bowers, Capitol Lakes Foundation Board Director since March 2020, was recently honored by the Gerontological Society of America (GSA). Dr. Bowers, professor emeritus at UW-Madison’s School of Nursing, was awarded the prestigious Doris Schwartz Gerontological Nursing Research Award in recognition of her contributions to geriatric nursing research.
Dr. Barbara King, a member of the award nominating committee, had this to say:
“The award recognizes nurse leaders and researchers who are making and contributing to groundbreaking discoveries that are directly applicable to clinical practice and care of older adults. Dr. Bowers research career has been dedicated to improving the lives of older persons and the individuals who care for them.”
The Capitol Lakes Foundation is grateful to have someone with such an esteemed career in geriatric health care serve on our volunteer board. Capitol Lakes residents and staff currently benefit from Dr. Bowers’ experience and leadership.
